For me, semi-abstract paintings of the female gender can be a powerful way to evoke memories and emotions from the past. My paintings often blend recognisable elements with abstract forms, allowing an engagement with the subject on both a realistic and symbolic level, and capturing the complexities of identity, emotion and personal experiences. Whether the memories are mine or those of the viewer, my paintings can serve as visual portals to different times and emotions. The choice of colours, brushstrokes and composition can evoke different moods, further enhancing the ability of my art to transport us to the past. I believe that art is a deeply personal experience, and the paintings that resonate are likely to be the ones that hold the most profound connections to anyone’s memories and emotions. When contemplating my art I often find connections to specific moments, relationships or feelings which trigger a sense of nostalgia. I desire that the people viewing my work also recall experiences that have shaped their lives. My abiding ambition is to produce art that speaks for those without a voice.
