As an artist I attempt to “write my biography” rather metaphorically, using colour and canvas. Exploring the 3 stages of life; childhood, adolescence and adulthood, as catalysts for paintings on primary experiences as a young girl in rural/urban Eastern Nigeria. These experiences gained, with time, moulded personal façades.
Most of the works are my ideal method of sharing private experiences. The positive outweighs the negative side of the battery substantially when speaking on the fuel for my creative oeuvres.
The making process sparked connections with my homeland and ancestral lineage. These works are inspired by traditional dances from tribes all over Africa, including my own, telling historical dance stories of different African ethnicities and the values they bring to the contemporary society. My painting technique is mixed media which embraces alot of motifs, found on the clothing and rough background of the art work.
